I’m at Koh Payam, Ranong Province, Thailand. I’m by myself on this pristine island with so few people. The population of dogs is probably the same amount as the population of humans living here.
I walked on the beach and made friends with many dogs. They ran to me and simply made their acquaintance. I appreciated their gestures and attentions to a small lady walking alone. I stood there for a long time to observe the dog life. I have to say that I was impressed to discover how happy the dogs were around there. They ran together on this huge, endless, sandy beach at full speed. They dipped into the water when they were hot. They searched for big bugs, like crickets, as their game and their toys. And they ate their own toys as crunchy snacks when they were bored of them. Nice!
They are dogs with luxury toilet space. There are multiple rocky corners to take a wiz. And this huge sandy beach is available for them to poop at will. Mother Nature takes care of poop cleaning twice a day. And us, humans, swim in that water fouled by the dogs we feed. lol
Oh well, dogs know how to live their lives happily here.
I tell you about these dogs to let you know that these creatures perfectly know the pleasure of living in the NOW. They pay full attention to the ones they love, and care for the people around them.
As for us, we are humans: we know we can do better — right? No, we won’t if we continue to suppress our feelings with some belief that by doing so we can be qualified as gentlemen or responsible adults. No, we won’t if we still think of the past or worry about the future instead of enjoying the moments we have with someone we love and who loves us.
If you are certain you can do this better, then you should understand that you are actually gifted to do this. God, heaven, the universe, or whatever you call it… has given us the ability “to feel”. Use it as something for you to enjoy your present moment instead of using it against yourself. We are human so act like one instead of trying to be a stone or perform mindlessly like a robot.
Let’s think a bit. Wouldn’t it be better to accept and entertain your feelings positively and productively? You are human and you need to feel. Why not? When you feel fully; no matter if it is a negative feeling or a positive one, it is a healthy thing to do. And you do it right here, right now so your heart can be touched at a deeper level. This process will remind you as to why you have this life and why you want to stay alive as a happy person.
To be happy is to let yourself feel fully and to do so you will not have anything left undone in your heart. So come to terms with that person or situation. Once you reach that point, you can act on things as a person whose thinking is more in balance.
I’m not talking about anything too unreachable or only about certain kinds of feelings. You can become a happy person almost instantly by starting with these simple things for yourself. If you want to fart, need to take a big dump, you say it and make it happen. (You may share the results with the people next to you afterward. :-)) You like something, enjoy doing certain activities; you do it immediately. You miss a person, think of someone; you call her, make it a point to see him. You hate someone, love somebody; you let her know, make him aware. You do it fully and you do it now. Then you will feel you are so much lighter, and the world you live in is richer. You will do these things until it becomes your personality and you expand it to everything in life. Eventually, you will come to a realization that just being alive today is the best thing you can do for yourself. You are excited for tomorrow to come, and want to live another day fully again.
Life is good if you just know how to live this one you have as a human who cares to feel fully, acts on it, and be in the now.
Just thinking about tomorrow, I can feel my tail start to wag.
